Did you know that:

  • The 8,400 Cuban doctors now leaving Brazil due to threats from President-elect Jair Bolsonaro are part of a program that served 113 million patients in the poorest areas of that country in the past five years.
  • The migrants at the Mexican –U.S. border escaping violence and poverty in their homelands is nothing new; a UN agency reports that 450,000 predominantly Central Americans attempt to cross the border annually.
  • The International Monetary Fund claim that Venezuela is suffering from 30% unemployment is not only false but is part of a strategy to demonize the democratically-elected government of Nicolas Maduro who won re-election earlier this year with 67.8% of the popular vote.
  • Cuba’s National Assembly has drafted a new constitution that was debated by the entire population and will now be voted on by the entire population on February 24, 2019.

You’ll find these stories and many more — unavailable in the U.S. corporate media or even in alternative sources that fail to cover Latin America fairly — in Resumen Lationoamericano English, a unique source of information about Latin America written almost entirely by Latin Americans and translated for English-speaking audiences.

What began as a project of a few writers and activists, Resumen Latinoamericano English is now in its third year of bringing news and analysis to a growing audience in the U.S., Canada and English-speaking world eager to access a perspective of what is going on in the region from activists, social movements, allied researchers and intellectuals, as well as independent journalists.

We come from a news service launched 30 years ago by a small group of Argentineans exiled in Spain during the military dictatorship of the 1970’s. Today, Resumen Latinoamerica has print editions in 8 countries and web portals in Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Basque, and now English.

Our mission remains the same; a platform of news and analysis designed to stimulate struggles towards a world of equality and justice that will be different and much more livable than it is today for the great majority of people.
