In Defense of Humanity: Statement Against the Coup in Bolivia

November 11, 2019

We Strongly Condemn the Coup D’Etat against the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Evo Morales.

“We’ll come back and be millions.”

Tupac Katari

The Network in Defense of Humanity strongly condemns the fascist and racist coup d’état against the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Evo Morales, the legitimate winner by more than 10 points of the elections of last October 20.

The Bolivian right wing in collusion with the U.S. government, the OAS and the region’s right wing have resorted to extreme violence to achieve what they could never achieve against Evo at the polls.

We express our most heartfelt and firm solidarity with Evo Morales, to the leadership and militancy of the Movement towards Socialism, to the native peoples and to the people of Bolivia, whose participative and protagonist democracy has been torn away.

We call on democrats and peoples of the world to demand respect for the political rights and physical integrity of the President, his collaborators, family members and fellow members.  We reject the hunt for militants unleashed by the coup plotters and express our concern for their well-being and personal safety.

We urge the immediate return to democratic norms, pressure must cease against the legitimate government of President Morales, whose constitutional mandate is fully in force, since the resignation that was forced upon him has not been democratically endorsed by the appropriate bodies.

The Democratic and Cultural Revolution must return as soon as possible, incarnated in the millions of Bolivians who are aware of their history and who love freedom,

That is the current course of the Great Homeland and there is no empire, however powerful it may be, capable of twisting it. Evo is the people.
