In view of the intensification of criminal actions by the government of the United States against the Cuban people, the Network in Defense of Humanity calls on all the peoples of the world so that, with one voice, we may forcefully reject the economic blockade, as well as the lies and slander that imperialism has invented about the island, its government and its revolution with the aim of justifying an eventual intervention.

In flagrant violation of international law, without legal authority, much less moral authority, the US government has maintained an economic blockade against the people of Cuba for 62 years in spite of the request of 184 countries that annually vote in favor of lifting the ill-named sanctions. This blockade has been ruthlessly intensified in the midst of the pandemic with more than 243 coercive and unilateral measures in place aimed at suffocating the Cuban economy, including the suspension of remittances to family members, which has resulted in food and medicine shortages. In view of this situation and with the cynicism that characterizes the US Empire, they are attempting to justify the need for a humanitarian corridor by holding the Cuban government responsible for such shortages. In this regard, the members of the Network in Defense of Humanity call on all good people to join the campaign against the genocidal blockade.

In addition to the affects of the blockade, which constitute crimes against humanity, the US government is taking advantage of the situation generated by themselves, by promoting violent demonstrations characterized by acts of vandalism which, although they have been focused on only 12 localities, they pretend to show it as a social outbreak, which is completely false. The island is in total normality.

The US government, taking advantage of the hegemonic power of the media, not only manipulates information and shows decontextualized images of what is happening in Cuba, but also, without any evidence and irresponsibly, as it usually does, pretends to position the opinion matrix that there have been dozens of deaths, disappearances and torture in Cuba due to the alleged repression by the security forces.

The Network calls on the peoples of the world to categorically join the demand made by the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, to the US government to present the evidence and the names of the alleged dead, disappeared and tortured people. Slander and lies that, with evidence in hand, will be immediately denied by the Cuban government. The Cuban authorities acted in strict accordance with the law to control the acts of vandalism that caused injuries to police and civilians. Meanwhile the prosecutor’s office has made it clear that the guarantees of due process have been complied with for the people who have been detained, most of whom are already no longer in custody.

The Network in Defense of Humanity calls on the people of the world to reject the computer attacks against the island, as well as the manipulation of messages that seek to destabilize and confuse the Cuban people and the world.

In spite of the imperial onslaught, the Cuban people, thanks to its socialist model and its revolutionary conscience, is successfully combating the pandemic, registering the lowest rates of contagion and mortality from Covid-19, in contrast to U.S. imperialism which, without being blockaded and counting on innumerable resources, heads the world’s list of people infected and killed by the coronavirus.

Today more than ever, the heroic Cuban people, deserving of the recognition of World Heritage for being an example of resistance and dignity as proposed by the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, requires the solidarity of all the peoples of the world. Cuba you are not alone!
